Nigerian players in Europe: Sunday Roundup – Iwobi unlocks new position

Iwobi impressed for Everton in a new position, Awoniyi scores first goal for Union Berlin.

Here is how Nigerian players in Europe fared on Sunday:

No Nigerian player was in action in La Liga

Ola Aina played the full match for Fulham as they lost out narrowly to a rejuvenated Everton side. Aina had a decent match but was unable to pose much threat going forward.

Rating – 6/10

Tosin Adarabioyo had a poor game for Fulham and might start to give his coach worry as Fulham needs to be more solid at the back.

Rating – 5/10

Nigerian eligible winger, Ademola Lookman was one of the better performers for Fulham against his former club. The 23-year old winger created 3 chances with one of them being an assist for Chelsea loanee, Loftus-Cheek.

The goal ended up being just a consolation goal and the cottagers are just a point above the relegation zone with fellow relegation candidate ‘Burnley’ having 2 games at hand.

Rating – 7/10

Did you watch Alex Iwobi yesterday? I’m surprised that he can be that effective on the right-wing. It is safe to say that that was Iwobi’s best performance in an Everton shirt.

Ancelotti’s decision to use Iwobi as a right wing-back turned out to be a very smart move as the Nigerian winger was a different beast yesterday, dribbling past 1, 2, 3 opponents completing the most take-ons in the game (5). Iwobi might have just found a new position.
