Struggling Kelechi Nwakali needs a chance to prove himself at Huesca
Since joining SD Huesca from Arsenal in 2019, Kelechi Nwakali has struggled to break into the first team.
Kelechi Nwakali, who is naturally an attacking midfielder has been used as a central midfielder every time he has been on the pitch for the Spanish-based team.
He started only 1 match for them last season as they clinched promotion to La Liga, he made 4 appearances off the bench also accumulating a total of 148 minutes only (that is not even up to 2 full matches).
This season, he hasn’t fared better starting only in the match against Real Madrid, a match that they obviously had no hope of winning still played in central midfield.
He has made 3 appearances off the bench with barely any time left to make an impact. He has been completely left out of the squad on 4 occasions and also left on the bench in a 2-2 draw against Valladolid.
The signs point to his coach not trusting him to make a difference and with him being played in central midfield makes it even difficult for him to prove his manager wrong.
Huesca visits Osasuna this night as they look to climb out of relegation and they are yet to win any game this season, recording 6 draws and 3 losses in 9 matches.
Nwakali would most likely start from the bench but let’s hope the 2015 U17 World Cup Best Player would get enough time to prove he has what it takes to succeed at Huesca.
