Nigerian players in Europe: European cups Roundup – Iheanacho sets Europe on fire

Iheanacho shines again in Europe as he led Leicester City to victory on Thursday night. Ejuke returns to holland but could not avoid defeat despite putting on an impressive performance.

Here is how Nigerian players in Europe fared in the European cups:


Frank Onyeka played the whole match for Midtjylland as they remained without a point in Europe, losing to Ajax narrowly on Tuesday.

Emmanuel Dennis started for Club Brugge but was unable to help his team avoid a flogging as they were humiliated at home by Dortmund. He was taken off in the 85th minute with nothing to show for his efforts.

Zaidu Sanusi was impressive for Porto on Tuesday night as they trashed Marseille at Estadio Do Dragao. He was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes and will be happy with his performance having just joined the club over the summer.

Odion Ighalo was left on the bench as Manchester United lost to Istanbul Basaksehir. Ighalo doesn’t seem to be in Ole’s plan especially since they signed Cavani.

Joe Aribo started for Rangers in a 6-goal thriller battle for the top spot. Joe had an average game and was taken off in the 69th minute. Rangers however conceded 2 goals after that and Steven Gerrard must be wondering if he made the right choice.

Benfica 3 – 3 Rangers

Kelechi Iheanacho was the man of the match as Leicester swept aside Braga in an interesting encounter. The Nigerian forward scored 2 goals while laying on another for Dennis Praet.

Iheanacho now has 3 goals and 3 assists in the Europa league

Chidera Ejuke was the best man on the pitch for CSKA Moscow as they lost to Feyenoord. The Russian club are now bottom in Group K.

Ejuke completed 9 take-ons which is twice as much as any other player completed. He had a Passing Accuracy of 94% before being taken off in the 77th minute.
