How FC Barcelona should lineup against Ferencvarosi

Barcelona begins their Champions League campaign with the easiest match in the group as they host Hungarian club, Ferencvarosi. With one eye on the El Clasico on Saturday, it is a good time to rest key players.

There shouldn’t be many changes in defense with Barcelona currently short of options at the back. Neto would obviously remain in goal.

In front of him, there should be only one change; Araujo replacing Pique at center-back so our ‘best’ defender can rest ahead of El Clasico. Firpo should not be risked and Dest should start at left-back, which gives the young Dutchman more time to adapt to how the team plays in a relatively risk-free game.

In midfield, there should be more rotations. This is a perfect opportunity for Pjanic to make his first start for the team. Wonderkid, Puig also deserves a chance in this team, and in this match, he should be allowed to show if he can fit in the double pivot role. Having rested against Getafe, Coutinho should start in the No 10 role.

Ansu Fati having come on from the bench in the last game, should start on the left-wing while Dembele should be given the nod on the right-wing in a match that could be crucial to him regaining his confidence. Griezmann should start in the number 9 position… if he can’t deliver against Ferencvarosi, he has no more excuses.

Here’s how Barcelona should lineup against Ferencvarosi:

Messi does not need to play unless things are going south and that should not happen. We need him fully rested before Madrid so rather than saving energy on the pitch, he would be able to go all out in the El Clasico.

Trincao should come into the game at some point (either to replace Fati or Dembele).

Pedri should come in for Coutinho later on while Braithwaite should replace Griezmann if the Frenchman doesn’t deliver.

Who do you think should play against Ferencvarosi?
