Nigerian players in Europe: Saturday Roundup – Osimhen, Simy gets on the scoresheet

Osimhen, Simy were on the scoresheet for their respective clubs. Iwobi was in action for Everton in their derby. Here’s how Nigerian players in Europe performed on Saturday:


Saturday Erimuya is yet to play for Cadiz this season and wasn’t named in the squad that beat Real Madrid away from home.

Alex Iwobi came in for Doucoure in the 78th minute as the Toffees battled their way to a 2-2 draw at home to fierce rivals, Liverpool.

Osimhen starts for Napoli and was on the scoresheet as they trashed high scoring Atalanta side relentlessly.

The lanky Nigerian striker controlled the ball on his chest from a long pass from Ospina, turns and fired a low shot past the opposition goalkeeper into the bottom corner to get his first official goal for the club.

He was taken off in the 83rd minute most likely as a precaution after clashing with Atalanta’s Djimsiti.

Simy Nwankwo starts again for Crotone against the current champions, Juventus.

He was on the scoresheet, converting a penalty in the 13th minute to earn their first point in the new season.
