Serie B top scorer, Simeon Nwankwo looks forward to Super Eagles call-up
Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo is looking forward to being called up to the Super Eagles following Crotone’s promotion to the top-flight of Italian football.
The lanky forward was the top scorer in Serie B last season with 20 goals in 37 appearances.
He has not been in the national team picture for more than two years featuring last against Argentina during the 2018 World Cup, and manager Gernot Rohr has snubbed him since Crotone’s demotion to the Serie B.
When asked if he’s thinking of the national team, Simy told the official website of Crotone: “Of course, this is every player’s dream. I played at the World Cup and now I look forward”.
Simy has to compete with another Italian-based player Victor Osimhen who plays for Napoli, Racing Genk duo Cyriel Dessers and Paul Onuachu, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Al-Nassr’s Ahmed Musa for spots in the team ahead of the national team’s upcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast and Tunisia.
