Ex-Crystal Palace Chief unsure of Ebere Eze’s spot the starting XI
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan calls ‘Eberechi Eze ‘an interesting signing’ and wonders if there is a spot for the former Queens Park Rangers playmaker in the starting lineup.
The young lad has to battle Palace Player of the Season for 2019-2020; Jordan Ayew, England international Andros Townsend and the club’s standout player Wilfried Zaha for one of the spots in attack.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Jordan said : “Eze is an interesting signing because you wonder who is going to make way for this player coming in because Wilfried Zaha is obviously the standout player at Crystal Palace for some time and there are rumours about him moving on.
“You’ve got Ayew playing fantastically well last season, you’ve got Adros Townsend in there so there’s a plethora of talent, but not enough goals in that side.
“So I think this game is an interesting one because Southampton are a descent side, Danny Ings is a descent goalsscorer and scored against Palace last year when they beat us in a game when we came back from lockdown….”.
In my opinion: Eze would have to be patient and take advantage of any opportunity he gets in the side, he has to show the coach why he deserves to start.
Eze who was named in the Professional Footballers’ Association Championship Team of the Year for the 2019-2020 season would be looking to get gametime on Saturday.
