Osimhen

Osimhen, the boy from the street of Lagos with the world at his feet

Another good game from the super eagles even tho the strength of the opposition is questionable but the most interesting part of the win was the performance of Osimhen, the wonderkid who plays in Ligue 1 for LOSC Lille.

Osimhen

After winning Golden boot and Silver ball at the U17 world cup in 2015 he moved to Europe and finally had a breakthrough last season for Charleroi which earned him the move to France where he has since bagged 9 goals and 2 assists.

His ability is without doubt but what makes him extra special is his determination to fight for the ball, his tenacity, his relentless pressing. He is what is known as a pressing forward and that can be seen in the way he assisted the first goal for Nigeria today; pressuring the defender, winning the ball and laying it off to Iwobi who finished the ball with class.

Osimhen is always looking to make a difference in games, he is not just contented with watching on.

He is a striker that can score as well as pick out his teammates with the final pass; that pass to Chukwueze for the second goal was well timed. We might just be looking at a future African Player of the year and dare I say Balon d’Or winner.

The way he took his last goal is just a proof of how clinical he is while the 3rd goal is a typical striker’s goal.

He is just 20 and he has a lot of room for improvement and through hard work and dedication there’s no limit to how far he can take his game. With rumours of some top clubs already showing interest in him, he might not be a Lille player for long but it is advisable for him to avoid making a wrong transfer as game time is extremely important for him at this point of his career.

In Osimhen, Nigeria has a future world class striker and along with other young players like Chukwueze, Iwobi, Kalu to mention a few… we might be looking at another golden generation in the making.
