Man City sweeps unprepared Chelsea aside

With the community shield acting as the traditional curtain raiser for the season, many expected a fierce battle between two teams who are supposed to be among the teams contending for the English league title this season.

While Man City showed us the impressive performance that led them to the league title yesterday, Chelsea reminded us that w shouldn’t expect much from them this season.

Although it could be argued that Chelsea would have to adjust due to a new system after playing with a 3-man defense for 2 years, but this team could not handle Man City’s crisp passing and intense pressing.

The following 5 players were of note in today’s game

Mahrez looks like he’d been in the team for so long and rarely looks off as his passes and link up play were on point.

Phil Foden looks raring to go and would most likely be more involved in the first team this season.

Aguero reminded Pep why he would not be relegated to the bench ever as he looks always ready to grab a goal, even if it meant he was a bit more selfish than the tactics allowed him to be. Getting 2 goals makes all those things less significant tho

Rudiger happens to be the only Chelsea player of note as he was accurate and composed with his passes , a pity those around him were not up to his standards.

Bernardo Silva might just be the guy to make us start realizing David Silva is getting old. With the portuguese getting the hang of Pep’s method, he might be used more often than last season and with the way he played today, he is up to the task
