World Cup market value: France with the most expensive squad; Saul, Ndidi, Rakitic most expensive in their country

The estimated transfer value for all players participating in the World Cup is a whopping 12.6 billion euros.

If one wished to sign all 23 players from the French national team, who will participate in Russia, it would be a total cost of 1,410.3 million euros, according to the Football Observatory of the International Center for the Study of Sport (CIES).

The Swiss Institute have calculated the market value of the participating teams in the World Cup and their calculations place France as the ‘most expensive’, ahead of England (1,390 million), Brazil (1,270 million) and Spain (965 millions).

Meanwhile, the last rankings are occupied by Costa Rica, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Panama. The players that make up Central America have a combined market value of 15 million euros.

This study also reflects the most valued player of each national team and their total cost. In France, the player with the highest market value is Kylian Mbappe (187 million), ahead of Antoine Griezmann.

In England it is Harry Kane (201 million), in Brazil, Neymar (196 million), while in Spain, according to CIES calculations, the player with the highest market value is Saul Niguez, with 101 million.

Lionel Messi (184 million) and Cristiano Ronaldo (103 million) are the most valuable players from Argentina and Portugal, while Mohamed Salah tops the charts for the Egypt squad, representing 74% of the total market value of his national side.
