Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo claims that Marseille are showing interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Iker Muniain.
OM have big ambitions after appointing Rudi Garcia as new coach and Andoni Zubizarreta as new sporting director, and it is the former Barcelona chief who reportedly wants to see the Spain international at Stade Velodrome.
Marseille are short of options in the final third and they believe that Muniain would be a very good addition to the squad.
It remains to be seen whether Athletic will be prepared to entertain offers for their star player, who has a €45 million release clause inserted in his deal.
Iker Muniain is one of the best players to have come out of los Leones’ youth academy in recent years, but he hasn’t exactly realised his full potential.
The 23-year-old has already made 295 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 36 goals and setting up another 28 in the process.
