5. Arsenal Away Win At Galatasaray
Having lost to bottom half Stoke City over the weekend, there was not much expected from Arsene Wenger and his minions (Yeah… considering the yellow and blue jersey:)). The best result envisaged was a slim win, or at best a couple of goals.
But, Arsenal had other plans with two goals from wonder-boy Ramsey & out of favour Podolski(Wasn’t expecting him to make any impact)… Wenger should consider him ahead of Giroud… might yield results.
Gunners were obviously proud of their manager.
4. Liverpool Losing Out To Basel
Although Liverpool had been on a terrible run, but nonetheless what was expected of them was to grab a win and qualify… simply put.
Not only did they fail to win… they also needed Gerrard’s 81st minute effort to draw level at Anfield. If Liverpool don’t turn-around their fortunes soon… they’ll finally walk alone 😀
3. Monaco Qualifying Atop Group C
Qualifying was not the surprise… it was the manner with which they qualified. They had scored just two goals in the build up to the final match… needing just a draw to progress. But they weren’t ready to settle for less. Congrats to another Nigerian in the knockout stage (Even though he didn’t play) ‘Echiejile’.
2. Manchester City Qualifying from Group Stage
I know Manchester City fans had been praying for this… I was hoping it wouldn’t come. They were written off… then the other teams (Especially Roma) started flopping. With superb brilliance from Nasri… they surpassed everyone’s expectation even without the injured Aguero.
1. Mikel Bagged His First Champions League Goal
Yeah I know, I was surprised too… Mikel Scored? Yeah he did… tucking the ball in after a superb free kick swung in by Fabregas. Mikel is Back!!!!! 😀 We’ll have to wait for another year for another goal… I’m just joking … Maybe Not
